Privacy Policy

Data we collect

We collect none of it: not your name, email, location, usage behaviour or recording content. The one record that exists comes from a purchase — see "Network and third parties".

• No personal identifiers (name, email, Apple ID, contacts)
• No location data
• No usage events, clicks, or performance metrics
• No crash logs or diagnostics
• No user content of any kind (audio, text, files)

Network and third parties

AuralTap's App Sandbox does have outbound network access, and it is used for exactly one thing: after a successful purchase the transaction ID is sent to our server, to reconcile the order and to let you recover that purchase on a new Mac or after reinstalling. What is sent is only the transaction ID, the product identifier and a random identifier generated on this device — never recording content, file names or usage history.

Beyond that the app makes no requests. It integrates no third-party SDKs: no analytics, no crash reporting, no ad frameworks, no account system.

Local storage

The following live only on your Mac, solely to make the app work, and never leave your device:

• App preferences (output directory, interface options)
• The recordings folder you chose in the app (security-scoped bookmark)
• The .wav files you record (stored in the directory you chose)

System permissions

The app requests only the two permissions directly related to recording:

• System audio capture (macOS 14.2+): captures system or per-app audio, asked once on first recording
• Microphone: asked only when you record with the mic enabled

Purchases

Pro in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or store any payment information — card numbers and billing addresses never reach us.

After a purchase completes, the app reports that transaction's ID so the order can be reconciled. It is just an order number, with no payment details attached.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from users of any age.

About this website

This site sets no cookies, does no cross-site tracking, and loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts.

If you email us, we use your address only to reply to that email. You will never be added to a mailing list.

Changes to this policy

If our privacy practices ever change (for example, adding cloud sync or analytics), we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, show an in-app notice asking you to re-confirm, and update the App Store privacy label accordingly.

Your rights

Because we collect no data, traditional access / correction / deletion / export requests have nothing to act on in this app. Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data.
